Following his brace in Warri Wolves 3-0 triumph over Ifeanyi Ubah FC, the Super Eagles striker Gbolahan Salami has revealed his next target.

Speaking with NAIJ.COM shortly after the Seasiders emphatic win in front of their home fans, the energetic striker who played all 90 minutes disclosed his team’s intent to end the season on a high.
He said: “I’m so happy about the victory today because this win has lifted the team’s spirit after our defeat against Sharks of Port Harcourt last weekend. We’ll be playing away in our next game and with this win, I’m sure we can compose ourselves and pick a point away from home in our next game.”

Salami blamed his team’s defeat to Sharks on fatigue among players but declared that the Nigerian Premier League trophy this season is the topmost priority for his team.
He said: “For this season, we have our eyes on the trophy and we want to win the cup for the new governor (Gov Ifeanyi Okowa). We want to make him happy, so the target is to be in the Champions league and not the Confederation cup again.”

Salami also played down suggestions about him having his eyes glued to the golden boot this season. He said: “I just want to keep helping my team, if I end up as the highest goal scorer this season, that’s fine but if I don’t, it’s still fine.”

With his brace yesterday, Salami takes his tally this season to nine goals, two behind top scorers Bright Ejike of Heartland Fc and Adeniji Tunde of Sunshine Stars.

The Seasiders have now accrued 36 points while the away side, Ifeanyi Ubah dropped out of the top 10 with 28 points from 21 games.
Warri Wolves now occupy the second position in the league behind Enyimba, as Sunshine stars have a game in hand against Sharks Fc in Akure.
Salami was also on target in the Super Eagles 2-0 win over Chad in the AFCON 2017 qualifier game in Kaduna. That was Stephen Keshi’s last game as head coach of the team.
