He made the disclosure while parading the suspects at the command headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.
The Commissioner of Police listed the suspects to include members of a cult group, One Million Boys, in Mapo.
The police boss further explained that the suspects were arrested during the polls with weapons as they assaulted and injured some people, some of who are on admission in some hospitals.
Katsina said the mayhem unleashed by the suspects attracted the attention of the police Special Force, which engaged the hoodlums in a gun fight.
He said sixteen members of the gang were arrested with some arms recovered from them.
The suspects’ names were given as Patrick John, Olunloyo Ibrahim, Oluwafemi Adele, Adikpe Joseph, Olamide Abidemi, Ahmed Mukaila, Ramoni Saka, Ojo Adewale, Rasheed Afeez, Adeleke Shola, Adeleke Ibrahim, Adeleke Tunde, Adedapo Nurudeen, Dele Abu, Monsuru Olalekan and Akeem Monsuru.
The CP further hinted that the command’s pre-election efforts also led to the arrest of eight robbery suspects.
He said the suspects allegedly snatched a Toyota Camry from one Madam Oluwafolakemi Fabodede in Akure, Ondo State, adding that the robbers then moved to Oyo State to attack Joba Pharmacy and a filling station at Iroko on Oyo-Ibadan Road.
Katsina said the robbers were accosted by the Police Ambush Squad, which overpowered and arrested them after gun battle.
It was gathered that the leaders of the gang, whose names were given as Boluwaji Olawumi, John Isaac and Fagboyegun Wale, were among the escaped inmates from Ekiti jailbreak of November 30, 2014.
The apprehended escapees were said to be awaiting trial for robbery and murder in Ekiti prison.

The police boss said one AK47 rifle stolen from a police officer with other weapons were recovered from the gang, while others includes 10 dane guns, one pump action, one cut-to-size, three single barrel guns as well as live cartridges.
The confessional statement of the apprehended political thugs are yet to be made official to the public in order to ascertain who hired them and also bring their sponsors to book.
Although it is not yet disclosed who the thugs were working for, it is imperative to mention that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate polled 528,620 votes, while Goodluck Jonathan, running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, received 303,376 votes.
