Minister of Environment to be confirmed as UN Deputy Secretary General

The United Nations (UN) is set to confirm Ms Amina Mohammed, the Minister of Environment, as the UN Deputy Secretary General, Premium Times reports.

Mohammed's appointment would be announced in a soon-to-be issued UN statement.
She would be the deputy to Antonio Guterres, who will assume office as Secretary General of the world body on January 1, 2017.
Mohammed had served as an adviser to the outgoing UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
She was appointed a Minister by President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2015.
