Five facts about Julius Aghahowa on his birthday (video)

In his heydays, Julius Aghahowa was one of the fastest strikers in the world.
The former striker hung the boots in April 2003 and after turning playing for the likes of Wigan Athletic, Bendel Insurance, and Espérance, Shakhtar Donetsk.

Nigerians would most likely remember him for scoring Nigeria’s only goal at the 2010 World Cup.
Followers of the game in the early 21st century would remember his back-flips which he used to celebrate after scoring goals.
As the 34-year-old turns celebrates his birthdate today, features five amazing facts about the former speedster that the neutrals missed.

1. He is Nigeria’s sixth highest goal scorer of all time with 14 goals in 32 appearances. He also has the third best goal ratio in national team history behind legends like Rashidi Yekini and Segun Odegbami.
2. His daughter Isabel released a book at the age of 13 titled ‘The Ellegers’ back in 2014. She is studying in the UK, and also a budding actress who has made a few appearances in a few Nollywood movies.

3. He is a strong christian who prays every morning.
He told Shakhtar.com on his return to the club in 2009: “I’m Christian. And pray not only in the morning but also during a day I appeal to God in thoughts.
“It is very important to trust in God as it gives a lot of possibilities to perfect yourself.

4. Aghahowa’s favourite shirt number is 17. He told Shakhtar in 2009: ” My lucky number is 17″.
