Chelsea 5-1 Manchester City, FA Cup: Post-match reaction

When the teams dropped for Sunday's FA Cup fixture between Chelsea and Manchester City, I think just about everyone expected that Chelsea would run away with the match. It took a little bit longer than most Blues fans would have hoped, but in the end, Chelsea cruised into the 6th round of the FA Cup, with an easy victory against a very young City side.
Diego Costa, Willian, Gary Cahill, Bertrand Traore, and Eden Hazard all had goals, Oscar missed a penalty, and both Pedro and Traore were denied by the post. All in all, it was a dominant display that should help build a bit of confidence for the home side, who managed to come away from this one without any injuries, either.
Thoughts
  • This match probably should have been over long before the halftime whistle, but Chelsea weren't nearly clinical enough during the first 45 minutes of play. Thankfully, they remedied that early on in the second half.
  • This is how the Blues should have looked against weaker opposition for the entire Premier League season. This is now three times recently where the Blues have made a massive talent advantage apparent on the pitch, something that hadn't happened under Jose Mourinho in quite a while.
  • I thought Baba Rahman was great against PSG, but he looked far too tentative with the ball at his feet on Sunday. I'd like to see him continually run out there anyway, especially as there is very little significance in Premier League fixtures at this point.
  • I found it hilarious that in such a young Manchester City squad, Martin DeMichelis, the most experienced player on the pitch, was the worst player by a wide margin.
  • I think the most heartening thing that happened on Sunday was Hazard stepping up to bury Chelsea's fourth goal. A little confidence ahead of the return leg against PSG would be awfully nice.
  • I'm sure the idea behind Oscar taking the penalty was to get the Brazilian a bit of confidence, but I'll be happy enough if that's the last attempt we see him take for a while. What an awful attempt.
