Speaking from Gambia, Siasia appealed to the abductors to release his 72-year-old mother.

"We've already reported the incident to the police in Bayelsa but I only beg them to please release her unhurt," Siasia told BBC Sport.
"I was told they shot sporadically into the air before taking her away on a motorcycle," Siasia said.
"We've not heard from them to know their motive, but right now I'm only concerned about her safety."
