Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney actually had to have his head stapled back together when playing against Manchester City on Sunday.

Some pretty graphic images have emerged of the 30-year-old bleeding heavily before being treated in the most brutal manner.

Remarkably, Rooney appeared unfazed by the ordeal and carried on with the match like nothing had happened.

Not the nicest of birthday presents just after his big day – but then again, what do you expect from a derby game of such importance?

He didn’t seem to bothered by the wound…
