Following the unending onslaught of
Boko Haram terrorists on Nigerians in the northeast, the Nigeria
Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has trained about 10,000 of its
officers on how to combat terrorism.
This much was revealed by the Commandant General of the security agency, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, when the United Nations Counter Terrorism Commitee delegation, led by Mr Wexiong Chen, the Deputy Executive Director of the (United Nations Counter Terrorism Executive Directorate, New York), paid him a courtesy visit at the Corps National Headquarters, Abuja.
According to Daily Post, Gana confirmed that over 10,000 personnel of the Corps have undergone training on Counter Terrorism in Isreal, Pakistan, Italy and also in Nigeria, with the Nigerian Army School of Counter Terrorism
The NSCDC boss also advised that the only way to achieve the common goal of fighting terrorism is through a collaboration among all stakeholders involved.
And while stressing the need for more exposure for his officers, the NSCDC helmsman appealed for technological know-how to improve greatly in the fight against insurgents, vandals, illegal oil bunkerers and oil thieves, who have all become more sophisticated in carrying out their dastardly acts.
Meanwhile, the insurgents have not reduced their assaults on Nigerians as they have kept up with their incessant bombings in the northeastern region of the country.
The most recent of the attacks is the bombing of a community in Maiduguri on Friday morning, an incident which came just about 24 hours after twin bomb explosions rocked the Borno state capital, leaving scores dead.
