Capital One Cup Round-up: Arsenal Suffers Humiliating Defeat

 The Capital one cup entered its third round with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton in action. Chelsea are the defending champions.
Arsenal was defeated 3 – 0 by Sheffield Wednesday.  Goals from Ross Wallace, Lucas Joao and Sam Hutchinson made it a night to remember for Wednesday.
Arsenal were made to rue injuries to
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott.
Chamberlain started the match and lasted only 5 mins
before Walcott replaced his former Southampton colleague.
Some thirteen minutes later, Walcott was also forced
off with an injury.

Stoke City thought they could extend Chelsea’s bad run of form when Jonathan Walters scored in the 52nd minute but Loic Remy pushed the game to extra time with a 90th minute goal.

Phil Bardsley earned himself a red card in the 90th minute but Stoke stood strong in extra time and forced penalties. Eden Hazard was the villain as he missed Chelsea’s fifth penalty.

The match between Hull City and Leicester City ended goalless in full-time. Riyad Mahrez however scored in extra time to give the Blues the lead but Abel Hernandez scored to level the game in first half of extra time.  

Hull City knocked Leicester out of the Capital One Cup via 5-4 penalties win. Mahrez missing the Blues first penalty.

In the game between Everton and Norwich City, the Blues concede through a Sebastian Bassong goal but crawled their way back into the game thanks to Leon Osman’s strike.

The game went into extra time and there were no goals recorded. Everton advanced thanks to a 4 – 3 penalty win. Hoolalan and Redmond missing penalties for Norwich.
