Nigerian Powerlifter Adesokan Smashes World Record In Congo.

Team Nigeria has recorded a massive achievement in the power lifting event at the on-going African Games in Congo.

This follows reports of a new world record set by Yakubu Adesokan in the Power lifting event.

Adesokan set the new record in the Men's up to 49kg category as he lifted a massive 182.5kg to win another gold medal for Team Nigeria.
 
Prior to the competition, Adesokan had told parlympic.org that his aim at the tournament is not just to pick up the gold medal but to do in style.

He had said: "It is my desire to put forth outrageous performances in this year's competitions, which will boost my world ranking and also present me as one of the strong athletes to beat at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games."

Adesokan whose gold medal looks to open the floor for more medal to troop in for team Nigeria as many expect that the physically challenged athletes, particularly the power lifters to deliver

Adesokan in the times past has won many medals for Nigeria in various international events.‎
