A 39-year-old Nigerian man, Abdul Adewale Kekere-Ekun, has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the United Kingdom (UK) for the murder of a teenager, Marcus Hall in 2001.
The incident occurred after a fight broke out outside Atmosphere Nightclub in Luton, where popular music group, So Solid Crew, had performed.

According to report, Kekere-Ekun had pleaded guilty to the murder charge before the Luton Crown Court but later fled to Nigeria.

He was however arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on February 12 for fraud, after which the anti-graft agency discovered that he was on the UK police wanted list.
The agency consequently served an extradition notice on him, which was signed by the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke. He was then extradited to the UK.
He was convicted today, September 7 after admitting to the killing.

Seven members of his gang had been convicted in 2002 and 2003 for their involvement in the murder.
Reacting to the sentencing of Kekere-Ekun, Hall's mother said she will never get over her son's death.

"My son's death still hurts as if it had happened yesterday and I will never get over it.
"You did not just ruin one life, you left a 'ripple effect' which has impacted on everyone involved in my son, Marcus' life."
