According to the reports from Taraba state, at least seven people were brutally killed and many others wounded, when some unidentified militants suspected to be herdsmen attacked the village of Kortse in Gassol local government area.

Village inhabitants told that the victims were attacked from ambush 5 kilometres away from Dan-Anacha town on their way to a rice farm near a fish pond.
Dan-Anacha is the commercial hub of the Gassol local government.

Esther Kumashenge, one of the victims who survived the attack, said that her two sons, Ushahemba Kumashenge and Sughter Kumashenge, were slaughtered in front of her.
“On sighting them, we started running but their targets were the men among us and they faced them squarely, shooting and cutting them with cutlasses,” she told, adding that “they would have killed all of us if they want because we were armless.”
Esther Kumashenge also told that she recognised the attackers, alleging they were from the house of one Alhaji Nyako.
She added that before attacking them from the bush some people spied on the would-be victims.
