Manchester United stars unveil new black adidas third kit with '90s throwback shorts

Having sailed into the Champions League group stages after recording a 4-0 away win (and 7-1 aggregate victory) over Cub Bruges on Wednesday night, Manchester United subsequently unveiled their new black third kit on Thursday.

The adidas strip features an orange pop on the brand's famous three stripes and the same graphic that has featured on both the red home and white away kit hem, albeit this time across the front of the jersey.

According the Manchester United's official website this will stand out 'brilliantly under the floodlights, which is ideal considering it will be used for the away UEFA Champions League fixtures.'

United's black colour scheme for change strips was first seen in 1993 and has now been reintroduced with the shorts strikingly different, adapting the Aztec-style graphic taken from the early 1990s shirt famously worn by legends such as current assistant manager Ryan Giggs.

United fans can get their hands on the new gear now from adidas.co.uk/manchester_united and the Megastore at Old Trafford from Friday.
United's home kit was unveiled on August 1 - the same day on which the club's £750million kit deal with adidas came into play.
And on August 11 their away kit was introduced - a white shirt with black shorts and white socks, of course emblazoned with the team's Chevrolet sponsors' logo.
