Senator Godswill Akpabio has revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) used to get cash from President Goodluck Jonathan while he was in office.

He said, according to The Nation:
“We can no longer run to the Villa for cash so we don’t have the wherewithal to maintain that large number of secretariat staff.”

“The workers should understand that they are in a master-servant relationship in which you cannot force an unwilling master to keep a recalcitrant servant. We are definitely going to downsize.”

The PDP and its workers are currently at loggerheads over the party’s plan to sack some of the employees and slash the salaries of the remaining.
The workers in turn accused the party’s leadership of squandering N12bn in funds generated during the 2015 elections.
