At least 9 herdsmen have been reported killed in what is suspected to be retaliation attacks by berom youths.

Association in Nigeria (MACBAN) Plateau State chapter, who yesterday,
alleged that nine Fulani herders are feared dead and 765 cattle rustled
when suspected rustlers attacked the herdsmen while grazing in Foron
district of Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State.
MACBAN’s chairman, Alh. Haruna Boro Hussaini said the incident occurred Sunday night while two herders sustained gun shots and matchet wounds.
He added that the police in Barkin Ladi had recovered 84 of the cattle and arrested two of the rustlers.
“The DPO in Barkin Ladi has assured us that they will do their best to recover the remaining cattle. But the nine boys have been killed. Our appeal is to these Berom youths to please leave us alone, they should stop attacking us and stealing our cattle,” he said.
Meanwhile the Police Public Relations Officer Plateau State Command, DSP Emmanuel Abu who confirmed the arrest of two of the rustlers said the force had recovered 84 cows while 147 cows had also been recovered by the owners.

Just two weeks ago, Fulani herdsmen reportedly stormed a gathering of mourners on Tuesday in Yangal village at Zango Kataf local government area of Kaduna state and killed eight people.
A week before that, herdsmen attacked Vaase communities in Ukum and Agatu local government area, killing ten people and rendering thousands homeless.
