The London club pulled out of a deal with Adidas because they were unhappy with £30million they received from the contract.
Chelsea think they were being underpaid compared to the deals with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid with the same shirt sponsor.
So after six years with Adidas, Chelsea will be kitted by Nike after the 2016/17 season.
Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal with Nike which is worth double the sum they received from Adidas.
With
the new deal worth £60 million-a-year kit, Chelsea are second only to
Manchester United who still have the most lucrative kit deal in Europe,
£75m-a-year with Adidas.
In the Premier League,
Chelsea’s Nike contract is twice what Arsenal are paid by Puma and is
more than three times what Manchester City earn from Nike.
Chelsea also get £40m-a-year from Yokohama Tyres for branding and £10m-a-year training kit deal with Carabao.
They have unveiled the last adidas kit from the existing deal which they will be wearing next season.
Like this season, the blue kit will have Yokohama Tyres at the front centre as a result of the £200million sponsorship deal.
The new adidas kit
which has a v-neck was unveiled at the club’s Cobham training on
Wednesday, May, 4 and was used for the first time in their last game of
the season against Leicester City.
