South African President Jacob Zuma
has reprimanded the minister for public works and two former cabinet
ministers for their role in the saga of state-funded improvements to his
home, the presidency said on Friday.
South
Africa's constitutional court ruled last month that Zuma had failed to
uphold the constitution by ignoring orders from the public protector
that he repay some of the $16 million in state funds spent to renovate
his private residence at Nkandla.
The presidency said in a statement that the letters of reprimand had been sent to the public works minister Thulas Nxesi, a former minister in the same department Geof Doidge and former police minister Nathi Mthethwa.
The presidency did not say what measures had been taken against the officials.
