Oliseh who has resigned from his post as Super Eagles job
With just under a month to go before the Super Eagles of Nigeria face Egypt in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the resignation of the Sunday Oliseh from the Super Eagles as left the Nigeria Football Federation in search of a quick fix.
With the NFF currently cash strapped, these are four candidates that could be considered for the Super Eagles job.
1. Shuaibu Amodu
This is the Guus Hiddink of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The 57-year-old is the overwhelming favourite to replace Oliseh-at least on an interim basis.
He qualified the Super Eagles for the 2002 and 2014 FIFA World Cups and was the interim boss before Oliseh after the sacking of Stephen Keshi last year.
He is now the Technical Director of the NFF.
2. Samson Siasia
The Nigeria U-23 coach is also a name that could be considered to replace Oliseh.
He
has the experience of managing the Super Eagles after managing the
national team between November 2010 when he succeeded Swedish Lars Lagerbäck to October after he was sacked for failing to qualify Nigeria for the 2012 AFCON in Gabon & Equatorial Guinea.
3. Salisu Yusuf
Former Kano Pillars coach
could be named as replacement for Oliseh considering the fact that his
the NFF’s assistant coach to Oliseh. He could be given the
responsibility to lead the Super Eagles in next month’s double header
against Egypt in the 2017 Africa Cup of Natons.
4. Emmanuel Amuneke
Amuneke
has enjoyed a steady rise in his coaching career from being as
assistant coach of the Golden Eaglets to Manu Garba and the chief coach
of the team.
He was recently promoted to the Flying Eagles but Oliseh’s resignation might fast track his rise to the Super Eagles job.
