– MFM FC promise to have a strong league showing like Leicester City are having this season
– The club is a newly promoted club alongside Ikorodu United, Plateau United and Niger Tornadoes
– MFM FC are playing in the top tier for the first time in its history
Newly promoted Nigeria Premier League side, Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM FC) have promised to pull a Leicester City when the league resumes later this month.
Despite their replative status in the top tier, the Olukoya-Boys left-back Julius Emiloju told Goal.com that the aim of the team is to pull of a Leicester City on the League.
Leicester City are top of the English Premier League this season after 28 games despite battling relegation though out last season.
“We have played quality friendly matches to toughen us for our debut campaign in the elite division. Hopefully, the warm up games should put us in the right frame of mind when the season eventually gets underway,” Emiloju told Goal.
“A lot of people have written us off but like Leicester City Football Club of England we want to make names for ourselves. Anyone that underrates MFM FC does that at his own peril,” he added.
The defender also thanked the club’s administration and management for the role it played in helping the club to the top division for the first time in its history.
“First of all, my appreciation goes to God for leading us right through our General Oversea Dr DK Olukoya, who has always been our pillar and strength.
“The management, coaches, players and fans also played important roles in our promotion to the NPFL,” he added.
The club was one of four clubs promoted from the national division for the 2015/2016 Premier League season alongside Ikorodu United, Plateau United and Niger Tornadoes.
