Taylor spoke about the investigation Monday during a press conference.
Deputies were called to a campsite in the 800 block of County Road 2217 between the Tennessee Colony and the Harmony Community just before 7 a.m. on Sunday to a possible shooting.
Taylor confirmed that the bodies of a man and woman were found in a travel trailer. The bodies of four males, who were initially considered missing, were later recovered about 1:15 p.m. Monday in a pond on the suspect's residence on County Road 2217.
Family members confirmed that Hannah Johnson's 6-year-old son Kade Johnson, her boyfriend Thomas Kamp, and Kamp's two oldest children were the bodies found in that lake. Carl Johnson, 77, and his daughter Hannah Johnson were discovered early Saturday morning. Carl Johnson's wife, Cynthia Johnson, was the sole survivor of the attack.
The suspect, identified as William Hudson, 33, was arrested and charged with one count of murder.
Bond has been set at $2.5 million. The sheriff's office says law enforcement officers have dealt with Hudson in the past few weeks on an assault call. They say he is not cooperating with the investigation.
Taylor said that this is the largest mass murder that he has ever seen. The sheriff's office says there was one female survivor who was related to some of the deceased victims.
The Texas Rangers and Palestine Police Department assisted in the investigation.
