President Muhammadu Buhari in his interview
to French radio has repeated his strong will to punish looters of the
federal government and to return stolen money.
Nigerian leader was answering to the questions from the Hausa Service Radio France International.
He said: “I am sure that some monies are being returned into the account of government.”
Buhari said his administration is planning to sue the looters before the court of law.
“We will not mention names for now, because we will sue them in court, and we will do that so that Nigerians would know who and who have stolen their wealth, either in cash or in crude oil and deposited the monies not in the government account, but in some one’s personal account and where the monies are kept,” the president added.
He clarified that they will do that so that people would know that the administration is not lying or blackmailing any.
“We have documents on facts that we will use in the court for the people to see,” Buhari stated.
He said very soon his full cabinet will be constituted, at which lists of names for those that will constitute.
President Buhari returned from his three-day state visit to France on September 16, Wednesday.
Nigerian leader recently said that his government had taken its anti-corruption war a notch higher by taking steps to identify and recover stolen crude oil funds deposited in banks and institutions in some foreign countries.
