The story which was making rounds months
ago, about the suspected Boko Haram member who disguised as a woman, is
back in the limelight.
Few months ago, when the Nigerian army was chasing the terrorists out of Baga, a scandalous photo of the purported fighter who tried to flee appeared in the media.
Sahara Reporters (SR) has now obtained a video which shows that the man in the video was actually a Nigerian soldier.
The 10-minute footage captures the man’s interrogation, from which it becomes clear that he was a soldier in a debriefing session with a military officer. The unnamed soldier explained that he had been in hiding after the terrorists seized their checkpoint before the Nigerian troops liberated the area.
During the questioning he spoke in pidgin English about Boko Haram sect and wondered why despite moving in masses they had never been subjected to aerial bombardment. SR attempted to contact the military officials for them to shed light on why the the story had been introduced as the capture of a Boko Haram terrorist, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.
Watch the video below:
It is worth noting that cases of suspected insurgents dressing as women have been recorded more than once in the northeast of the country ravaged by Boko Haram attacks.
Earlier this year the Nigerian troops arrested a suspected militant in an unusual outfit in Yola. Under the interrogation the man confessed he was a member of the Boko Haram sect.
