Police nabbed a 28-year-old Nigerian man suspected of possessing 32.76kg of ganja and syabu worth about RM120,000 at Mentari Court here.
Selangor Narcotics CID chief Asst Comm Md Tahir Kassim said the man, who was in the country on a student visa, dropped a packet of compressed ganja as he was running away from the police at about 7.30pm Thursday.
“Our team managed to apprehend him. He led us to an apartment unit in Mentari Court where the drug stash was kept.
“We found 20 slabs of compressed ganja stashed in one luggage bag and another 13 slabs in a different bag.
“All in all, we seized 32.42kg of ganja from the unit,” he explained.
ACP Tahir said the suspect led police to another apartment unit in Mentari Court at 9pm.
“We found 20 packets of dried leaves suspected to be ganja, and 110g of syabu stored in five packets in the living room,” he added.
The suspect will be remanded until Aug 20 to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which is punishable by death upon conviction.
