Head
of Service of the Federation, Mr. Danladi Kifasi, has been directed by
President Muhammadu Buhari to release the N5 Billion pledged by the
Federal Government since August 2014 for the Victims Support Fund (VSF).
According to a state house press release, Buhari gave the directive when he played host to the VSF Presidential Committee headed by Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd.) at the Presidential Villa where he informed the president that out of the N55.92 Billion pledged, N33.54 Billion was still outstanding, including N5 Billion from the Federal Government.
The retired general also revealed that VSF currently has N23.33 Billion in four bank accounts urged the President to persuade all organizations and individuals to honour their pledges to the Committee.
On his part, President Buhari assured Gen. Theophilus Danjuma support and assistance to victims of terrorism while also on the need to acquire strategic equipment and weapons to confront the terrorist.
He added that the full deployment of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), under the auspices of member-states of Lake Chad Basin Commission, will further boost ongoing military operations against the insurgents.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour while the Senate President Bukola Saraki is the Guest of Honour at the forthcoming Young Nigerian CEO’s conference, holding at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Monday, 3rd August.
