Well, you will be in the know after reading this.
Augustus had spent all night looking for water for his household. He had already walked miles between streams but they had all dried up. It was the dry season you see and around this time, villagers would normally have to travel for miles just to find a streams that hadn't dried up.
Now there was an option and it was the Croc River however, it was dangerous and crocodile infested. Many have been known to be snapped away, torn to shreds by aggressive and hungry crocs. The worst part is you never see them coming. They could lie in wait under the muddy water, patiently waiting for you to get in a snappable position and wham! gbam!! they grab, twist and turn as they tear you to shreds, swallowing and digesting. Certainly not a sight worth seeing talk less of experiencing.
Regardless of the risks, the villagers still needed water to survive and at some stage the risk will have to be taken. Tired and exhausted from hours of searching for a fresh stream, he staggered back home, slumped himself on to his mud and wood crafted bed and within minutes he was off to cuckoo land, grabbing his night rest in preparation for another day of searching for a stream that hasn't yet dried up. It was clear that he was so tired because his family couldn't get any sleep. He was literally snoring like a warthog.
"Leave him be, his father told his brothers. He has worked hard all night. He is probably dreaming of finding a stream. That's a dream we wish will come true tomorrow"
Augustus found himself walking miles looking for streams, pot holes and water trapped between rocks but luck was certainly not on his side. He knew he couldn't go back home empty handed this time and decided to make the daring decision.
"It is after all after midnight, surely the lions, crocs and snakes must be fast asleep. I must at least take the chance while the forest is in deep sleep" He thought to himself.
So Augustus, brave and clearly at this stage stupidly courageous, summoned up the courage and carried on through Lion territory heading for Croc River. On arriving at the river he noticed the whole place was scarily dead silent. He chose the part of the river closest to a tree in which he could climb to safety and proceeded to the shallow part of the river. Realising it was safe to draw some water, he started to fill up his bucket.
It wasn't long that the long stemmed bush grasses started to come to life. It was clear something had been stalking him and probably followed him to the river. Augustus quickly ran & climbed to the safety of the trees and just in that flick of a second, a crocodile which had literally being stalking him in stealth mode, came out for lightning fast and deadly grab. Luckily for him, the croc missed him by an inch.
As he climbed the tree, what was lurking in between the long stemmed bush grasses jump right at him. It was a fierce, mean and hungry lion. The lion only managed to cause a small scratch on Augustus heel as he climbed for dear life. High up the tree, he went far from the deadly claws of the lion. However just as he thought he was safe, a 49 ft python, as fat as a fully grown crocodile was literally staring him right in the face. Almost losing his grip, he fell on to another branch hanging on for dear life. The newly found branch he was hanging on to was right under the croc infested rivers and the crocs where jumping high, jaws wide open trying to grab a bite off him.
As the python approached him, he trembled in fear. The only way back was to either swing to land where the Lions were waiting to have him for dinner, jump into the croc infested river or climb back up, get a good grip and stay clear away from the python hoping it's not hungry enough to make a tasty meal out of him.
Confused and scared to death, Augustus knew he had to make a decision. if you were Augustus, what would you do?
A. Take your chances with the python and hope it's already fed
B. Take your chances with the crocs and swim for dear life
C. Take your chances with the lion and run for dear life
D. Wake up! It's just a dream (remember he fell asleep)
Sometimes, we allow ourselves to be so overwhelmed with our circumstances, the issues and drama life throws at us that we forget to just step back and look at how we got there in the first place. In some cases, all we have to do is to just wake up.
Don't let your problems drown you to a quick grave. As for me, when I get to a point where I feel I just can't take the issues of life any more, I wake up and smell the coffee. I call on the name of God and let my worries deal with him.
If God be for you who can be against you.
Wishing you all a relaxing and rewarding weekend and I look forward to training my project management candidates tomorrow.
Regards
