The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to
question the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over the arms deal probe that has been on going
for a while now.

The Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to question the former President of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over the arms deal
probe that has been on going for a while now.
As
stated by an EFCC source, "although the commission will not invite the
former President, we may invite him to tell us his own side of the story
because his name has been coming up in investigations."
The former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan whose
name has consistently been mentioned in connection with the arms
scandal during interrogation of some of the suspects might eventually
need to address the allegations by the anti-graft agency.
It is worthy of note that while former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd)
was being interrogated, he claimed to have disbursed the funds on the
basis of instructions given to him by the former President.
The
former NSA, Dasuki, in his statement of witness/accused Person which
was filed in a High Court sitting in Abuja has claimed that he acted
strictly on the former President's orders.
In addition, the former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala,
during the course of interrogations claimed that she transferred funds
to the former NSA as a result of a decision reached at a meeting
presided over by Jonathan.
There have also been
further indications that part of the money was channeled towards
Goodluck Jonathan's campaign during the last presidential elections.
The
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made it known that
the commission would need the permission of President Muhammad Buhari to
carry out the plan of interrogating the ex President.
Alongside
former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, other people to be invited
for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
include the former Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony the former deputy chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George. Both men are allegedly believed to have received part of the funds meant for arms procurement.
There have been contemplations that some other politicians might be interrogated in connection with the arms deal probe.
