Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha
has concluded plans coach Emmanuel Amuneke and members of the victorious
Golden Eaglets squad on Monday, November 23.
According to Africanfootball.com, the governor will
entertain the coach and four players; Ikwu Ejike, Udochukwu Anumudu,
Kelechi Nwakali and Christian Ebere.
The Eaglets won the FIFA U-17 World Cup after defeating Mali in an all African final earlier this month.
Kelechi Nwakali was team captain and was named tournament MVP. Anumudu was Nigeria’s left-back at the tournament and bagged a goal.
In a related development, members of the Golden Eaglets have begun lamenting how the Nigeria Football Federation has maltreated them since returning from Chile where they won the 2015 FIFA U-17 world cup.
Sources who spoke to Naij.com revealed each player is owed N1.5 million (almost USD8,000) and a total of 21 players were taken to the tournament. The NFF has run into a debt that is almost thirty-two million naira, N31,800,000 equivalent to USD160,000.
