Nigerian International has been ranked the
highest paid African Player in the money spinning American Major League
Soccer league.
Martins is the highest African earner and the 11th highest paid player in the MLS with a basic take-home of $2.4million (N.6Billion) a year.
However, the Super Eagles striker is ranked as the second highest paid in Seattle Sounders behind US international Clint Dempsey, who pockets over four million dollars a year.
Martins’ take home is weigh above Montreal Impact’s striker Didier Drogba who earns $1,666,668 a year.
In the list released by the MLS Players Union, Orlando City
midfielder Kaka has been revealed as the highest earner in the MLS,
beating Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard to the top spot.
Highest paid player in MLS is Kaka goes home every year with $6,660,000.
Gerrard, paid a little over $6.2m per annum at LA Galaxy, earns
slightly more than his former International team-mate Lampard, with the
ex-Chelsea midfielder on $6million yearly at New York City FC.

Martins who recently won his first trophy of the season with his Major League Soccer side, Seattle Sounders, indicated his willingness to return to the national team, saying he is yet to shut the door on Nigeria.
Martins has scored 13 goals in 16 league appearances.
He now has 38 goals in his Sounders FC career, second in club history and 9 shy of Fredy Montero’s 47.
