Ex-Plateau Governor Jang Left State With N222bn Debt

The former governor of Plateau state, Jonah Jang, has allegedly spent a total of N747.65bn in the eight years of his administration, leaving a debt of N222.3bn, the chairman of the Lalong/Tyoden Transition Committee in state stated.
According to the Punch, Prof. Sonni Tyoden said the former governor got N525.35bn as statutory allocations from the federation account during his time in office, and left a debt of N222.3bn at the end of his tenure on May 29, 2015.
Prof. Tyoden said Jang stated in his handover notes that he left a debt of N103.9bn, however, findings by the committee revealed that Jang spent a total of N747.65bn in the eight years of his administration, leaving a bigger debt.
Tyoden, who is the deputy governor of the state, made this statement on Tuesday while presenting the report of his committee to Governor Simon Lalong at the new Government House, Little Rayfield.
