Popular singer, DJ Zeez, is probably
not in the best of moods right now, no thanks to a court judgement that
ordered him to refund N22m to his record label, HF Music, over breach of
contract.
When Saturday Beats reached out
to the singer via the telephone to feel his pulse and know what his
next line of action would be, he simply said, “I am currently busy, can
you please call me back in the next 35 minutes.”
And that was the last time he picked the phone. He did not reply the text messages sent to his phone as well.
It was gathered that the singer was
dragged to court because he did not fulfil the requirement of his
contract. The presiding judge, Honourable Justice B.A. Oke-Lawal, in
the case brought before the High Court of Lagos State, on Wednesday,
ordered that DJ Zeez whose real name is Kingsley Elikpo, should refund
the sum of N22,378,605.70 being the total amount spent by HF Music
through various advances made to and on his behalf, from the
commencement date of his contract with the label until the point when it
was breached by him.
It was further reported that the singer
was dragged to court in September 2015 by HF Music following his
inability to meet his obligations as outlined in his contract, with the
main complaint stating that the singer refused to record music, as
contained in the record deal.
