Ahead of their clash with West Brom on Saturday, April, 15, Sanchez Flores is worried with the dry spell of Ighalo.
Goal drought of Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo is a source of worry for Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores ahead of their Premier League clash with West Brom.
Ighalo has scored 14 league goals this season while his strike partner Troy Deeney has scored nine.
These goals have helped solidified Watford’s league status this season in 15th position in the table.
Ahead of their clash with West Brom on Saturday, April, 15, Sanchez Flores is worried with the dry spell of his frontmen.
“It
is clear. The second half of the season we have problems to score – I
try to support the strikers because Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo are
amazing players and have a lot of responsibility,” the coach said.
“In
terms of the goals, I would be worried if we didn’t create attempts.
You do not score, it is a problem but it is more difficult to create
attempts than to score."
With 38 points so far, Watford are just two points away from 40 which usually guarantee Premier League safety.
Flores however maintains that the club still need to do more to remain in the Premier League.
“We try to be ambitious and add more points, the necessary points – this is the challenge," he added.
“If
you say we need two points from 18 it is not a good mentality, we want
18 points. We want to go to every single stadium to play well and be
competitive and get a good result.
“We
have one style of play which depends on our strikers, we can’t depend on
one striker. We try things but we are not this kind of team, we are
building and it is the first year in the Premier League.
“We don’t have a lot of tools and lots of different responses when we have problems. It is something that is not easy to solve.”
