A late referee, Akinsaya was listed by the Giwa faction of the NFF to officiate a game between Warri Wolves and Giwa FC.
A dead referee has been listed to officiate a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game this weekend.
Chris Giwa’s faction in its role as the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) sent a list of referees they want for this weekend game.
In an embarrassing gaffe, a certain referee, Wale Akinsaya was listed for the game between Warri Wolves and Giwa FC at the Warri City Stadium this weekend.
Akinsaya however is late, having lost his life during the mandatory FIFA Cooper Test for match officials in Ibadan.
The late Ibadan-based referee was listed to be assisted by Tope .O from Osun State and Adeleke M of Oyo State in the game.
A certain Yahaya Adama signed the statement containing the referees for the weekend games which was sent to the League Management Company (LMC).
Giwa has been at war with the leadership of the NFF after a Jos High Court dismissed Amaju Pinnick as president.
He
has always claimed that the September, 2014 election which put Pinnick
in office was faulty but his case has been ruled out by FIFA and the
Court of Arbitration for Sports.
Despite Pinnick
filing an appeal to vacate the order and a motion for a
stay-of-execution against the judgement of the Jos High Court, Giwa has
been claiming to be the leader of the federation.
