– Ex-internationals living in the diaspora have condemned Sunday Oliseh
– Blame NFF for hiring the former Juventus player as a coach
– Chike Arisa says Oliseh does not merit the job
The embattled Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has continued to be at the receiving end of the cane as Nigerian ex-internationals in the diaspora have condemned him for his recent outburst against Nigerians.
The ex-internationals lambasted the former captain of the team for his comments and blamed the president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, for handing him the job.
Oliseh in a video-rant posted on Facebook, called his critics insane, and suggested that people in the media asked him to pay a bribe so they would write favourable reviews about his tenure.
The coach touched on various topics including his job security. He also called out his former colleagues in the Super Eagles – the people he labeled ‘Benchwarmers’ who are still bench-warming. He added that they want him out so they can install their own favourite into the team.
This did not go well with Nigerian ex-internationals abroad such as Chike Arisa who claimed to be speaking on behalf of his colleagues and himself stated that Oliseh was biting the hand that fed him.
“We’re disappointed that a man who has benefited more from Nigeria will turn around to insult them. He knows that criticism is part of the game. And successful coaches had lived with criticisms to achieve results.
We’re more disappointed because he did not merit the job and should have shown humility instead of exposing himself,” Arisa told Vanguard online.
However, he blamed Pinnick “for the rubbish” because he gave “a top job to a greenhorn who has not coached a club not to talk of handling the revered former African champions”, the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
