Ighalo opened goal for Watford in the 17th minute after pouncing on a though ball from Almen Abdi.
Nigeria international striker Odion Ighalo scored his eight Premier League goal of the season in Watford’s 3-2 win away at Aston Villa on Saturday, November 28.
Ighalo opened goal for Watford in the 17th minute after pouncing on a though ball from Almen Abdi.
His initial ball was saved by Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan before he recovered to score in the second attempt.
Villa came out to grab the equaliser but Watford goalkeeper Gomis was solid between the post.
Micah Richards finally found the equaliser four minutes before half-time after he was found unmarked in the box from a free-kick.
Watford got back into the lead courtesy of a calamitous own goal by Alan Hutton.
Hutton got to a ball but his attempted clearance beat Guzan and rolled into the bottom corner.
The
defender was also culpable in Watford’s third goal after he was
dispossessed before the ball was he ball was played to Ighalo whose shot
cannoned off Richards before looping up in the air where Troy Deeney leaped to finish.
Jordan Ayew curled in an excellent second goal for Villa in the 89th minute but here wasn’t enough time for them to find the equaliser.
Villa have now equalled an unwanted club record of 13 winless matches in a row and eight at home without a league victory.
They also have just five points from their opening 14 games of the season.
No team has recovered from that kind of position to beat relegation.
