Chelsea technical director has revealed that the club still have belief in under-pressure manager Jose Mourinho
Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo has revealed that the club still has belief in under-pressure manager Jose Mourinho and will stick with him.
The English Premier League reigning champions are experiencing a stuttering form this season, losing seven of their 12 games.
The London side have slumped to 16th in the worst title defence in the division's history.
Nigerian born Emenalo who is the technical director of Chelsea and close confidant of owner Roman Abramovich has revealed that they will stick with Mourinho.
Emenalo joined Chelsea in 2007 and has worked at different level at the club.
He is not the technical director and presides over much of the club's transfer policy.
“Right now, the
statement from the owner and from the board comes from a belief that we
are in a position to trust a manager who has delivered so much,” Emenalo told the Telegraph.
“We are in a position to trust a group of players who have delivered in the last couple of seasons.
“We are in a
position to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel and therein
lies our confidence, that we can get out of the situation.”
Mourinho and Chelsea will be looking to improve on their form as they host Norwich City on Saturday, November 21.
