Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police Force has deployed its Bomb Detection
Unit to help beef up security at various airports in the country ahead
of the forthcoming Christmas celebration.
Airport workers at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on Monday, November 30, 2015 protested the non-payment of their salaries.
Speaking to Daily Trust Newspapers, the Air Transport Services Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) chairman, Lawal Ahmed Fagge said “We will report to our places of work but we will remain outside of our offices pending the outcome of the meeting being held today between our national executives and FAAN. We want all pending issues with FAAN to be resolved this time around.”
Reports say the protests crippled activities at the Airport.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) also faulted the recent ranking which rated the Port Harcourt International Airport as the worst airport in the world.
