Reports say Nigeria’s Moses Simon
may be on his way to Liverpool FC following his spectacular performances
for club and country in recent weeks.
Simon, who has been dubbed as the ‘Nigerian Ronaldo’, has been on the Anfield side’s radar, but would cost them a huge amount of money, according to HLN.
90mins.com affirmed that the 20-year-old Nigerian star, who scored the second goal as Sunday Oliseh’s Super Eagles (his fourth national team appearance) humiliated Cameroon 3-0 in Belgium recently, for Belgian Pro League for KAA Gent.
The Kops had been keen on the player in 2013 before his switch to Dutch giants, Ajax in pre-season, where he did not stay for too long before moving to Slovakia, an ‘affiliate’ club of Ajax’s.
And while in the Slovakian league, Simon banged in 13 goals in 33 appearances for the club from his wing position, before being discovered and snapped up by his current employers, KAA Gent, in January 2015.
HLN now believes that Moses’ current market value has gone way beyond what Gent initially paid to secure his services, which might result in him moving to a bigger club with the prospects of Champions League football (if they qualify) as well as the English Premier League weekly action.
Liverpool scouts have reportedly spotted him for the second time in three years while they were scouting his team mate and Belgian international, Laurent Depoitre, and only time will tell if they can break the bank for the £15million-rated winger.
Simon may also be optimistic about the proposed move to Anfield as he already has a Nigerian compatriot, Taiwo Awoniyi there, moreso, the arrival of the club’s new manager, Jurgen Klopp, favours a stay for young players and unknown talents.
