Sporting Director of Barcelona Football Club Robert Fernandez has revealed that, Lionel Messi will never leave the club.
In an interview with newsmen on friday, Fernandez said: “Messi will play for the club for the rest of his life.
“He has many years of football left in him. Other people think not, but he’s so intelligent and knows where to be on the field at the right time.
“As people get older they lose things but he’s smart enough to keep producing extraordinary performances. He has that gift.”
Messi was linked with a move to Manchester City last season following a dispute with coach Luis Enrique , after his heroics in Barcelona’s treble success last season, the forward looks very likely to remain with the club in more seasons to come.
The La liga witnessed again the best of Lionel Messi in the second half of last season’s campaign as he led his team Barcelona to treble for the second time in their history.
Fernandez remarks comes days after UEFA named the Argentine best player in Europe for the past season.
Messi has also denied rumours going around that after the disappointment of failing to win with his country, Argentina, he was ready to take a break from the international football.
