Police have served notice that
it will temporarily close certain roads ahead of the maiden millenium
marathon to be held on Saturday, September 5. This is to ensure the
smooth management of both human and vehicular traffic, before, during
and after the event.

embarking on their journeys. Further to this, the police said no vehicle
will be allowed to park or drive through these routes.
The following roads will be closed to motorists from 5.00 am to 12.00pm tomorrow:
- Atta Mills High Street: From Cadbury House near Enterprise Insurance to Trade Fair junction.
- Gilffard Road: From Trade Fair Junction to 37 roundabout
- Liberation road: From 37 roundabout to Ako Adjei through to Independence Avenue to National Theatre traffic light
- Liberia road: From National Theatre to TUC through North Liberia road to Farisco.
- Cantoments road: From Osu Traffic Light to Frankies restaurant
- 4th Lane, Osu: From Frankies to Salem Street through to Salem Link
- Angola road: From SSNIT hospital to Osu Cementary Traffic Light
- Starlet ‘91’ road: From Osu Cemetray to Black Star Square
Meanwhile, the following areas have also been earmarked as car parks for the event:
- The forecourt of the state house
- International Bank Car park
- The Accra Sports Stadium car park
- The Ministries car park
- West End of the Independence Square
The
Police has therefore entreated members of the general public,
especially motorists to observe these arrangement and co-operate with
the police for a successful event.
