Murder: Farmer remanded for killing 26-year-old pregnant woman

Abudu Mohammed, who is being held for murdering Amina Amadu, a 26 year old pregnant woman, has had his plea reserved. 

  

 

A farmer, who was nabbed with the clitoris and pubic hair of a pregnant woman after murdering her, on Wednesday appeared before the Accra Central Magistrate Court.

Mohammed is said to have murdered the deceased while she was on her way to Yeji for antenatal care.
The Court presided over by Mr Ebenezer Ansah remanded Mohammed aged 26, into Police custody to reappear on October 21.

Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Agyei told the Court that the complainant was a farmer residing at Dartibonto, a village near Abrumase in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region.

According to ASP Agyei, the deceased who is a Fulani, resides at Gyemtito, a village near Abrumase. The accused also lived at Gyemtito.

On July 13, this year, Amina, the deceased set off on foot to Abrumase to board vehicle to Yeji in the Brong Ahafo Region for antenatal care.

On her way, prosecution said Amina saw Mohammed who offered her a lift on his motorbike.
When they reached Dartibonto Village, Mohammed took a road towards Sirimunchu to the surprise of the deceased.

ASP Agyei said Mohammed stopped on the way to enable the deceased to urinate.
Soon after the deceased joined the accused person on the motor bike, Mohammed pulled a cutlass and butchered Amina to death.

According to prosecution, Mohammed pulled the deceased into a nearby bush and used blade to remove parts of her body.
The prosecutor indicated that the accused person went back to Gyemtito with parts of her sexual organs. The complainant, who was on his way to his farm saw the body of Amina and reported the matter to the Police.
ASP Agyei said the accused person was nabbed and a searched in his room revealed Amina’s clitoris and public hair, which were retrieved.

Prosecution said the Police conveyed Amina’s body to St. Mathias Catholic Hospital at Yeji for autopsy.
The results of the autopsy gave the cause of death of as “Hypovolemic shock secondary to exsanguinations from multiple lacerations due to butchering.”
Prosecution said Mohammed in his investigation caution statement confessed to the crime.
