President Muhammadu Buhari has received
praise from a chieftain of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic
Party, Abubakar Dogon Yaro Bibi.
According to The Sun, Bibi described Buhari’s performance in office as the president approaches 100-days in office as very encouraging.
He disagreed with critics of the president who described Buhari’s administration as too slow, adding that the president has achieved a lot for Nigeria since he came into power.
His said: “Buhari is not slow because if you observe, everyday, there is a chain of Permanent Secretaries visiting to inform him on how they run the ministries.
“He will not appoint Ministers without knowing the actual problem in the ministries. So, he is not slow; he has to know the in and out of the ministry and who he can appoint to manage that place.
“To be honest and candid, Buhari is doing well in discharging his duty as the President of this nation because in the area if insecurity, he has played a significant role. On the criticisms that greeted the appointments made so far by the President, Bibi said Buhari acted, based on the powers of his office and should not be faulted.
On the uproar that greeted the the recent appointments of the president especially from Southern Nigerians, Bibi said the complaints are too early.
“There is no marginalisation of the South. We have to wait to see what will happen in about a month or two, after he constitutes his cabinet. It is then, we can know whether he marginalised the South or not,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) yesterday said Buhari’s recent appointments will encourage corruption in the country.
