Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo state who
has been in the news lately for his constant attacks on the immediate
past administration of former president, Goodluck Jonathan, insists that
the Jonathan government wrecked Nigeria’s economy.
Oshiomole who spoke to Vanguard, said he stands by his claims despite the repeated denials by the former minister of finance under Jonathan, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Oshiomole further revealed that the Jonathan government, spent the sum of N140billion on consultancy for the second niger bridge, adding that the money was sourced from the Sovereign Wealth Fund illegally.
He called on the Igbos to hold the Jonathan’s government responsible for the fact that the bridge has not not been constructed despite the huge monies earmarked for the project.
According to the governor, “If Nigerians know what these people did, they will stone them to death, jungle justice. 700 million dollars gone on second Niger bridge without any bridge to show”.
On the recently approved world bank loan for his state, Oshiomole said: “First, is that the PDP does not believe in development and for them anything that will bring prosperity to the people negates what they stand for.
“Which is politics for the benefit of PDP leaders. And of course they are embarrassed by the amount of goodwill that we have continued to enjoy from the people of the state; it is not easy to be in government for six and half years and you can still walk the streets – on and off.
“You find people trooping out to hail you and, see, they have been praying, with the declining oil prices such that many states can’t pay salaries.”
Meanwhile, the former minister of agriculture and rural development under Jonathan, Akinwumi Adesina, has lambasted Oshiomhole, for describing the agricultural programme of the immediate past government as a dismal failure.
