Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins was a notable omission in the list of 18 foreign players invited in camp by Coach Sunday Oliseh.
The Seattle Sounders striker has however sent a message to Oliseh on what to expect from him this season with a bang when he helped Seattle Sounders end their 6-match win-less streak.
Martins scored twice in his team 4-0 mauling of Orlando City at the CenturyLink Field on Sunday night.
The forward suffered a serious injury in Seattle’s US Open Cup loss to the Portland Timbers in June but returned to the Seattle Sounders starting line-up for the first time in ten weeks.
His first goal of the night in the 17th minute gave his side a deserved lead before he went on to seal the win in the 62nd minute after debutant Nelson Haedo Valdez had doubled the advantage ten minutes earlier.
Martins has now scored nine goals in 13 MLS games this season.
The goal poacher last played for the Super Eagles against Kenya in a 2014 World Cup qualifying match.
He was among the players who had a fallout with ex-coach Stephen Keshi and was alleged to have retired from international football despite scoring 18 goals in the 39 games he featured for the Eagles.
