- Manchester City host Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday
- Player of the Year Eden Hazard is causing Vincent Kompany concerns
- Defender believes Belgium team-mate can reach the level of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
Manchester
City captain Vincent Kompany jokingly hopes that Eden Hazard comes down
with a bout of 'diarrhoea' to prevent him playing in Sunday's clash
with Chelsea.
Kompany
is concerned that his Belgium team-mate, who picked up last season's
Player of the Year award as Chelsea deposed City to become Premier
League champions, could inflict more damage to his side's title hopes
this term.
Speaking to German daily Het Nieuwsblad,
Kompany responded to the question of how to stop the mercurial Blues
playmaker by quipping: 'You'd almost hope that Eden Hazard would have
diarrhoea!

Jose
Mourinho's side will determined to return to winning ways after a
controversial 2-2 draw with Swansea City on the opening day of the
season - with Kompany claiming that Hazard was dangerous even after the
Blues were reduced to 10 men following the sending off of Thibaut
Courtois.
Last season's Player of the Year was dangerous even when Chelsea went down to 10 in draw with Swansea
Hazard was involved in the incident that led to a fall out between Jose Mourinho and his medical team
'Now let's be serious. You can't underestimate the impact he has had on Chelsea,' said Kompany.
'You
would expect him to have a dip in his performance level. Last week,
against Swansea, he maybe didn't play his best first half, but when they
were reduced to 10, he was the only one who was dangerous. Because he
ran past three, four defenders.
'You
can have as many tactical plans as you want, if Eden starts running, it
is chaos. He's at a level where he decides how good his team are,' he
added.
Kompany believes that Hazard could eventually reach the level of Cristiano Ronaldo (left) and Lionel Messi
After
last season's performances, many people have elevated Hazard towards a
status only shared by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Kompany,
who scored in his side's opening 3-0 win over West Brom, claims the
24-year-old can eventually reach the level of the world's greatest
players.
'Messi
and Ronaldo are stats animals. If you look at their talent, you can
compare Eden to them. But they score a lot. Unbelievable.
'But
Eden has made so much progression the last few years that it is
possible he reaches their level. It wouldn't even be a bad performance
when he ends up just behind Messi and Ronaldo.'
