Ijeh has been killed by an unknown gunman as he was returning home from
his farm in Omuomu village, near Abavo in Ika, Delta state, Daily Post
reports.
The incident happened on Sunday, August 9, when the victim was riding his bicycle home from his farm. He was said to have been shot twice in the back.
Mr. Monday Ijeh, the victim’s son said he got a call that his father had been shot. He said he had spoken to his father on phone while he was still in the hospital to find out if he had any issue with anyone but the old man said he had no altercation with anyone in the village.
“I received a call that my father was shot twice on the back as he was riding back home from the farm, though he did not die immediately.
“When I learnt that he was still alive and talking, I called and spoke with him. I asked him if he had any problem with anybody in the village before the attack.
“But he maintained that he does not have any issue with anybody that would warrant taking his life. He eventually passed out the next morning at the Agbor Central hospital where he was rushed to,” Monday said.
The police spokesman, Delta command, Celestina Kalu said investigation was going on to find out who committed the gruesome murder.
“I received a report from the Police Division in Agbor that a man was shot twice as he was coming back from the farm, and the police gave the family extract to enable him receive treatment.
“We did not know that the man eventually gave up this morning, however, investigation into the incident has commenced,” Kalu said.
In a another development, unknown gunmen killed and dismembered three travelers in Plateau state. it was reported that they were traveling in a vehicle when the attack was carried out.
