The United States of America has condemned the recent Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria and Cameroon.
The US further described the attacks as "horrific and
indiscriminate" and said that the use of children as suicide bombers
was “unconscionable”.
This was contained in a statement released on Friday, July 24, 2015, by US State Department deputy spokesperson, Mark Toner.
It reads in part:
"Boko
Haram's unconscionable use of children as suicide bombers and
indiscriminate targeting of men, women and children highlights the
group's senseless brutality.”
"We remain committed to working closely with Cameroon, Nigeria and the other Lake Chad Basin countries to defeat Boko Haram.”
Twin bombings
occurred in Nigeria’s Gombe state on Wednesday, July 2, while two
teenage suicide bombers also launched an attack on Cameroon’s Maroua on
the same day.
