The fire affected eight lock up shops, three houses and three vehicles.
Three children of the same parents were killed in an early morning inferno on Friday ravaged a community in Isolo area of Lagos.
The Director, Lagos State Fire Services, Mr Rasak Fadipe, said in Lagos that three children, all females, were aged five, seven and 12.
Fadipe, who made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), named the victims as Oluwapelumi Raman (5), and her siblings, Oluwaferomi (7) and Christiana (12).
He said the tragedy occurred at about 4 a.m. at Mechanic Village, Jakande Estate near Oke Afa, Isolo.
The
director said that preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle
loaded with plastic containers containing petroleum products ran into
parked vehicles in the area and the impact resulted in fire.
"The
fire affected eight lock up shops, three houses and three vehicles. The
dead children were found in one of the shops. We did not know that
there were human beings in any of the shops when our men arrived.
"We discovered it later. The corpses were handed over to the police from Ejigbo Division,’’ Fadipe said.
He
advised members of the public to be conscious of the activities of
others around them that could endanger their lives, particularly people
carrying fuel in plastic cans.
In a related
development, Fadipe said the service also recovered the dead body of a
26-year-old woman, who fell into a well of about 120ft deep in Ijede
area of Ikorodu.
He said that the incident happened on Thursday evening at No. 1 Aina St., Omitolo, Ijede in Ikorodu.
"When we got the information, we rushed there and recovered the dead body from the well,’’ he said.
When contacted the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Patricia Amadin, gave the name of the victim as Murufa Alagbala.
She said the police had deposited the body at the Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Amadin said that report from the deceased’s family members indicated that the victim had some brain disorder.
