This time, in an interview with an Abuja based blogger, Yushua Shauib, the former NSA disclosed how he lobbied for Buhari to become the Action Congress Nigeria (ACN) Presidential candidate.
He said he knelt down to beg Bisi Akande, the Chairman of the defunct Action Congress Nigeria (ACN), to accept then General Buhari.
He said he actively participated in the struggle for democracy.
According to him, “…The persecution that followed forced me into exile, where I teamed up with opposition elements struggling for the return of democracy.”

He also said he was actively involved in President Buhari’s emergence as the flag bearer for Action Congress Nigeria (ACN) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011, recalling how he pleaded with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Bisi Akande to accept Muhammad Buhari as the joint presidential candidate.
Adding that he had been supporting Buhari’s political ambition all through 2003, 2007 and 2011.
Adding that “In the belief that Yoruba and south-westerners are never religious fanatics, especially regarding politics, me and my group suggested that Tinubu should be a running mate to Buhari.”
“When other elements opposed that proposition, Tinubu team therefore recommended a Buhari-Osinbajo ticket. Unfortunately, the ticket failed to stick as Pastor Tunde Bakare was eventually pushed forward by other forces,” Dasuki said.
Well, it is said that in politics, there are no permanent friends or enemies, just permanent interests.
