The latest attack by Boko Haram in Biu local government area of Borno state seems to be a warning, to the new Chief of Army Staff, Major General TY Buratai.
News reaching DSB says that during an evaluation of the extent of damage in the area, it was discovered that the family house of the Army boss was torched by the terrorists.
According to a source who spoke to Punch Newspapers, “What
really happened was that Boko Haram went there. They killed two
motorcycle mechanics and torched some houses. It is not a massive
attack. It was an isolated opportunistic attack, but the Army is on top
of the situation. Troops are on the ground now.”
An army source said that the road from Biu-Sabon Gari to Damboa has been certified safe for travellers, after the Army cleared the Landmines on the road.
The acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, also said that “The public are encouraged to use the road as adequate security measures have been put in place for their safety.”
