A 23-year-old man, Ikechukwu Ndubuaku, was yesterday charged before
an Ota Magistrate’s Court in Ogun, for allegedly stealing eight
batteries belonging to MTN Nigeria, valued at N800,000.
Ndubuaku, who resides at No.8 Akinsanya St., Ojuore, Ota, is being tried on a three-count charge of stealing, burglary and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Lydia Omatahunde, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 26 at about 2:00 a.m. at Ilo-Awela Road, Ota.
Omatahunde said that the accused and others at large, broke into the transmission fence of the MTN Mask and stole eight batteries belonging to MTN Nigeria.
She said that the accused was apprehended by residents of the area and handled over to the Police, while the other
Omatahunde said that the offences contravened Sections 390 (9), 417 (b) and 516 of the Criminal Code of Ogun State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty
The Senior Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
